Christian Brothers College High School

Christian Brothers College Prep High School is a private, all-boys college preparatory school administered by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a lay order of religious dedicated to teaching students of varying academic, ethnic and socio-economic status.  Its 930 students come from more than 125 different Catholic parishes and communities in the metro-St. Louis area.

CBC had long ago outgrown its Clayton campus and seized the opportunity to build their new facility in an area already supporting other academic institutions, such as Missouri Baptist College, Concordia Seminary and the Rossman School.

Alberici Constructors, Inc., was hired as construction manager for the school’s new campus facility located on North Outer Forty Drive in Town and Country, MO.  Alberici worked with the design team of Mackey-Mitchell Associates through an extensive preconstruction phase.  Alberici provided estimating, value engineering and constructability services so that CBC and the collective team could make educated decisions affecting the project’s scope, design, finish level and budget.

The new CBC High School is built on a 24.7-acre parcel of land donated by one of the school's alumnus. The property fronts U.S. Highway 40 in West St. Louis County.   The project scope for the 245,000-square-foot facility required constructing 52 classrooms and 11 specialty classrooms including an art room, fine arts room, biology labs, and computer instruction areas.  The campus contains a 380-seat performing arts center, 300-seat chapel, 500-seat dining area and a 1,800-seat gymnasium.  A 3,000-seat stadium faces the school’s athletic fields.  On campus parking is roomy enough for 575 cars.

Outcomes were tightly managed to ensure project success. From scope control to productivity improvements, nearly every cost-saving measure was implemented on this project.  The result?  An extremely cost-efficient project, completed in time for students to begin their 2003 academic year.
