Alberici Corporation honored for its new headquarters achieving LEED platinum certification by U.S. Green Building Council president

Only nine platinum-certified buildings in the world

St. Louis, MO (September 28, 2005) – Alberici Corporation was honored today for achieving the prestigious Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its new headquarters located in St. Louis, Missouri.  Presenting the Platinum Certification plaque to Alberici was S. Frederick Fedrizzi, president and CEO, USGBC.  The event was attended by employees, contractors and subcontractors who participated in the new building project and business leaders across various industries throughout the greater St. Louis region.

To date, the USGBC has certified only nine newly constructed buildings in the world with a Platinum rating.  Achieving Platinum meant that Alberici had to accumulate a preset number of points throughout the entire project – from site selection to design to construction.  Alberici achieved a total of 60 points, the greatest number of points awarded to date for any LEED-certified building.

For Alberici, sustainable building and design is part of the company’s long-term commitment to the environment and future of construction.  Early this year, Alberici announced the formation of Vertegy, a consulting service aimed at providing clients with procurement and construction strategies on green and sustainable building.  In a very short time, Vertegy has consulted on several construction projects in the region and is currently working with several clients who have registered their projects with the USGBC and seeking LEED certification.

Vertegy – which is derived from combining the Latin root for green and strategy – is based in St. Louis at the new Alberici corporate campus.  General manager for Vertegy is Thomas A. Taylor, who is a certified LEED Accredited Professional.
