Chicot Memorial Hospital Expansion and Renovation

When a one percent sales tax was approved in Chicot County, the hospital owners hoped to build a replacement hospital.  They soon learned, however, that the increased tax revenue would not be adequate for building a full replacement hospital.

Alberici Healthcare Constructors developed a design solution that constructed an addition to hold most of the patient functions, and remodeled the existing hospital for support space (non-patient areas).  This enabled the project to be fully funded based upon the existing revenue structure and sales tax.

The hospital had a number of design options which were desirable, but only if the bids came in under budget.  Alberici set up the bid process so that each option could be bid separately.  This reduced risk by creating perfect information for the hospital to decide which options to select.  Costs could more easily be controlled.  All alternate bids were eventually constructed, resulting in the best possible product, yet without the risk of budgetary overruns.

The addition to the hospital houses the following:

            •  Admitting
            •  Imaging
            •  Obstetrics
            •  Surgery
            •  Patient rooms
            •  Emergency room
            •  Lobby
            •  Pharmacy
            •  Kitchen

The existing hospital was remodeled to include the following:

            •  Dietary department
            •  Laboratory
            •  Hospital administration
