Alberici has constructed several projects for Trinity Industries in Mexico, including a rail car manufacturing plant in Sabinas and a paint shop expansion in Monclova.
In Sabinas, Alberici constructed the 39,950-square-meter manufacturing building. The structure has 25-meter column spacing to accommodate eighteen bridge cranes. The cranes have capacities of 25, 15 and 10 tons.
The manufacturing building includes a 900-square-meter welding and training school and a 995-square-meter hacienda with rooms for 10 guests. All areas are connected by 44,000 square meters of exterior concrete patios. In addition, the project included 4.5 kilometers of rail spurs.
The Rail Paint Shop Expansion project, located in Monclova, is a 7,960-square-meter complex that houses two separate paint lines, a 10-ton crane bridge and two wheel blast pits.
The paint shop project included an 810-square-meter expansion of the transfer table pit. In addition, the project required installation of one 400-horsepower and five 300-horsepower air compressors.
Alberici performed the projects using an open-book, design-build contracting method, delivering both facilities on time and on budget.
